As you may already know, this week is Social Care Commitment Week. This is a week dedicated to celebrating the commitments and achievements of adult social carers who have declared their commitment to providing fantastic social care by using #SCCWeek.

What is Social Care Commitment Week all about?

The idea behind Social Care Commitment Week is to set out clear goals and shared values for everyone to follow when it comes to providing social care. It’s the healthcare sector’s promise to ensure that people who require care and support have access to high-quality services.

The Social Care Commitment is made up of seven ‘I will’ statements. Each of these statements has associated tasks that everyone who signs up must do. Both employers and employees can sign up to be part of The Social Care Commitment, however, each has slightly different ‘I will’ statements.

How can you get involved in Social Care Commitment Week?

Are you an employer? If you’re an employer, you need to sign up online, print off a ‘we’ve just signed up’ sign and share a picture of you and your team holding it via Twitter with the hashtag #SCCWeek. Don’t forget to tag @CareCommitment in your picture!

Are you an employee? Have a chat with your employer and ask them if they’ve signed up. If they have, ask them to invite you to join. Then, you can sign up, print off a ‘we’ve just signed up’ sign, and share a picture of yourself and your colleagues on Twitter holding it!

Remember, even though Social Care Commitment Week only runs from November 7th to 11th, the Social Care Commitment runs constantly throughout the year, so you can choose to get involved at any time.

Why should you sign up?

  1. To ensure that you are offering the standards of care required.
  2. To support staff training.
  3. To raise confidence in the care sector and be recognised as a quality care provider.
  4. To help find and keep quality workers.
  5. To meet wider workforce requirements.
